A Darbuka is a goblet-shaped hand membraphone, with a single skin and a short, dry, piercing sound. Traditionally made of cast, its goat- or fish skin head is often glued to the shell rim. Its is tuned with heat (from a fire or by hand friction)
Nowadays, a darbuka can be made of cast iron, aluminium or ceramique with a natural or plastic head fixed to the instrument shell with screws that also allow the instrument's tuning.

This model is suitable for any kind of player, ideal for beginning to intermediate learners. It is light and pretty inexpensive, with jingles fixed inside the instrument's body, which adds a nice, tinkling tone to the main sound of conventional darbuka strokes.
