This seed rattle with rope handle is an African made idiophone, used in traditional dance rituals. It can also be played among other instruments to enrich the accompaniment of a large variety of musical styles, or as a sound effect to storytelling.

Played with mastered gentleness, this instrument can sound like waterfall.
These natural seeds are hollowed out and fixed to a plaited lace scheme handle.

2011-05-09 karine d. Ces crécelles donnent un son très léger, proche du vent ou d'une cascade. Je pense l'utiliser dans une animation sur le conte africain pour des effets de bruitage. J'ai aussi les crécelles à la cheville dont le son est nettement plus dur et fort. Elles se complètent bien. Bon instrument traditionnel.
