A percussion instrument of the idiophones family, it consists of a single moulded piece of material, in the shape of a narrow necked, vase-like pot, with a circular hole in the side and an opening at the top. The Udu drum is present in more than one continent and has a variety of shapes and methods of making and playing. It is used in very different musical environments, from traditional forms to vanguard Jazz. Originally from Niger, its name means "bottle" in the local idiom.

This udu is the XL version of the tunable skin udu. It fully shows Schlagwerk know-how. It has low, powerful and deep sound, with very dry treble. The skin is the true originality of the model. Depending on the technique you use, they can produce more bass sound or a sound close to derbouka. A professional instrument with infinite possibilities!

This is a tunable version of the instrument: a ring is set around the skin, allowing adjusting of the skin tension.
