Paiste created 17 Planet Gongs. The sound characteristics of the Planet Gong are comparable to those of the Symphonic Gong in diameters 20 "- 38".

Planet Gongs are tuned in conformity with the natural harmonic series based in the orbital properties on the Earth, the Moon, the Sun, and the Planets according to calculations of Hans Cousto. Thus they resonate in harmony with the cycles of the celestial bodies and communicate a distinct aspect of the “music of the spheres” so amply quoted since the Antique. Their sound color is extremely mysterious and conveys an unusual, unfathomable atmosphere.

A very nice gong with shades of color on the striking contour and a nice light gold hammering on the drum. The Chiron asteroid sigil is very elegant in the center of the gong. The tones are deep and soothing. There is a certain almost aquatic roundness that creates a sense of comfort and ease. When struck softly or hard, the harmonics last for a very long time in suspension. In Tsunami rise, it is a real sound elevator, the 7 levels are clear, distinct and it is very easy to succeed in going up in power until the light sound. A symbolic gong for those who, like the centaur Chiron, are on the road to recovery. Miky (Translated review)
