Handmade in a professional porcess, this guiro boasts remarkable aesthetic and sound qualities. Each model is selected by the craftsman (also a musician). Being made out of natural gourds, these guiros are all different in shape and sound. Decoration patterns also vary from one model to another, making each one quite unique.

There is a strong linkage between this percussion instrument of the scraped idiophone family and musical traditions from Central America, until Porto Rico and the Dominican Republic.
It is played by scraping its upper, grooved part with a thin stick, or by striking its shell. Characteristic of such famous rhythms as Son and Salsa, its distinctive sound and insistent patterns remind cricket chirping.
