Large LP vibratone

This smooth instrument is a tubular kind of bell. Beaten with a mallet, the whole instrument vibrates intensively and produces astonishingly pure notes with extremly long sustain (maximal duration of a sound).
It consists of a plain tube, made with a special kind of aluminium, and has a hole halfway down it length that can be blocked up with the thumb to create "wah wah" effect.
It is a precious tool, among other percussions, to create original musical arrangements, or sound effects for story telling performances, cinema etc.
