Very well finished, nice quality of manufacture and nice sound, although less powerful than some other designs.The wooden plate gives a more "muffled" or less "voluminous" sound than the same instrument mounted on a kind of skin like a small drum.However, I got a real good resonance by putting the kalimba on a solid wood table or on the skin of a djembe.In the end, it all depends on what you are looking for. The sound of this kalimba is also softer and more discreet as it is, compared to those mounted on a skin which will be more enveloping but less discreet. (Translated review)
