This method brings something new in the djembefolas' world. At least the solos technics of the djembe master Sega Sidibe are properly described in a tutorial, with 2 CDs. Thanks to JC Benic & P. Noyer, former Sega's students and accomplished musicians, the tradition and the knowledge are preserved, that is purely transmission.

You will find in this book a lot of solos, variations, breaks, rolls on the following rhythms: Suku, Denba Foli, Dansa. The notation is clear, the texts are simple (in french) and the main part of the book is composed by partitions. The 2 CDs complete the book with a lot of samples and demos.

Learning the Sega Sidibe's solos ? Actually the point is more to learn how to produce its own solos by taking part from the best sources. The experimented players will find their new way in this book, improve their practice and get a serious upgrade.

A collection of 3 traditional rhythms dissected with for each one the line of accompaniment (djembé + sangban) then a vast repertory of solo variations (more than a dozen each time) by the master Sega Sidibe. The top = 2 cds. One with the resumption of all the examples and the second to play at various tempi pdt 5 mn the phrases while being accompanied. It is a remarkable work of musicology. I particularly appreciated the warm-up exercises proposed before studying the solos. I will study this book when I will have well concretized the djembe accompaniment but for those who are more advanced than me, go there with the games closed. This work goes well with the book Sega Kan Do by Cyrille Piquet in which we find the three rhythms with less solo variations but a beautiful cultural mediation which makes it complementary. I discovered this great djembefola thanks to your site and its approach, both simple and traditional, is very interesting. A good method in short! (Translated review)
