Shekere Brazilian Abé model professional from RECIFE. Shekere or Djabara is a traditional instrument found in Africa and Latin America (here : Brasil)..
A traditional, african instrument in its origin, shekere / Djabara is nowadays widely used in Latin America, too. It is a dried and emptied gourd, with beads, seeds or small shells woven into a net all around it.
It is played by shaking it and hitting the lower, uncovered part of the gourd. Its sound is very loud and high-pitched. Generally used by women in traditional bands.
This model is a powerful one, with plastic beads to avoid breakage in the long run.
Motifs and colour depend on the cratsman’s inspiration! So do not expect your shekere to be strictly identical to our photo.
