Shekere Brazilian Abé model with adjustable net by Roots Percussions. Shekere or Djabara is a traditional instrument found in Africa and Latin America.
A traditional, african instrument in its origin, shekere / Djabara is nowadays widely used in Latin America, too. It is a dried and emptied gourd, with beads, seeds or small shells woven into a net all around it.
It is played by shaking it and hitting the lower, uncovered part of the gourd. Its sound is very loud and high-pitched. Generally used by women in traditional bands.
This model is a powerful one, with plastic beads to avoid breakage in the long run.
Diameter: 5,5" to 7"
Motifs and colour depend on the cratsman’s inspiration! So do not expect your shekere to be strictly identical to our photo.
