A member of the membranophone family, the derbouka is a single-headed drum with a short, dry, and penetrating sound. It is traditionally made of ceramic, but can also be made of metal. The skin is made of goat or fish, and is often glued to the edge of the drum. The tension of the skin is adjusted by heating it (near a fire or by rubbing it with the hands).

A versatile instrument that can be used in a variety of musical genres, from Middle Eastern to North African music. It is also a popular choice for beginners, as it is relatively easy to learn to play.

  • Diameter (skin): 6.3 inches
  • Height: 11.8 inches

Nice derbouka except that it is small. I would like to know if you have bigger ones like 45 cm and if you sell fish skins for derbouka 40x40 or more. Thanks (Translated review)

As far as my order is concerned, I must admit that I was quite disappointed. Indeed the derbouka although quite well packaged arrived with a few visible chips on the clay foot.it's a shame because this instrument was intended as a birthday gift for our son ... Sincerely Alain Carita (Translated review)
