The Bendir is a traditional frame drum used throughout North Africa. Its shell is made of (very light) acacia wood and its head, of (very tight) goat or plastic skin. It is generally equipped with a snare (made of gut) stretched across its head, which gives the instrument a distinctive buzzing sound when the hand hits the skin.
This model is a genuine, adjustable Bendir with plastic head, made in Fès by experienced craftsmen.
Larger than the goatskin Bendir, it is also more powerful, and you can tune it with a spanner. You can play it in open air and in wet conditions, without fearing any tension loss.
Wood: acacia
Head: (white or transparent) plastic
Diameter: 16in

Good purchase. Product conforms to the description. Very fast delivery. (Translated review)
Bendir with a powerful and pleasant sound, very characteristic. I had a slight doubt because of the sound composed of only two strings, but the result is quite satisfactory with the plastic skin. Living in Brittany, I gave up the natural skins which are really too complicated to use according to the humidity. Very fast delivery. I am very happy with my purchase! (Translated review)
