The Bendir is a traditional frame drum used throughout North Africa. Its shell is made of (very light) acacia wood and its head, of (very tight) goat or plastic skin. It is generally equipped with a snare (made of gut) stretched across its head, which gives the instrument a distinctive buzzing sound when the hand hits the skin.
This model is a genuine, adjustable Bendir with goatskin head, made in Fès by experienced craftsmen.
Nb: Please note, this bendir is a traditional instrument handcrafted by artisans in Morocco. It is often marked with small imperfections (marks on the skin or on the frame for example). These particularities in no way alter its playing quality, tuning or longevity.
