The Ganzá is a simple percussion instrument, consisting of one or several hollow, aluminium cylinders, partly filled with sand, tiny metal balls or dried seeds.

In Samba bands, Ganzas play a “continuum” phrase, that is, a repetitive pattern, following a constant to and fro motion, emphasizing the main beat for others to pick out easily.

This mid-size, double-cylinder model is loud for most musicians' needs and remarkably balanced which makes it pleasant to play.
