The udu is a percussion instrument of the idiophones family, it consists of a single moulded piece of material, in the shape of a narrow necked, vase-like pot, with a circular hole in the side and an opening at the top. The Udu drum is present in more than one continent and has a variety of shapes and methods of making and playing. It is used in very different musical environments, from traditional forms to vanguard Jazz. Originally from Niger, its name means "bottle" in the local idiom.

This udu model is made in Germany by Schlagwerk. Its tunable skin allows many different ways of playing this traditionnal instrument.. A nice instrument with an awesome sound.
