Castañuelas, literally “small chestnuts”, are Spanish idophones and consist of shells joined in pairs on one edge by a thin string. They are mainly part of Spanish, Portuguese and southern Italian musical cultures. Generally made of hard wood, the two pairs are different in size and concavity to produce differently pitched sounds. Like bongos, maracas and claves, the higher pitched pair is called Hembra (“female”) and the lower, Macho (“male”).

Our models are carefully carved in solid pieces of hard, dark wood (granadillo type) and boast a very fine finishing quality that makes them semi professional-instruments.

Delivered with an explanatory leaflet to teach you how to handle the instrument, this model is very good quality for its cost.

I like them but it seems to me that the stripe indicates the sharpest castanet, it seems to me that it is the opposite. It doesn't matter, I reversed it. (Translated review)

I am very happy with these little castanets that fit my baby hands perfectly! A nice sound not too dry, I sing over them without difficulty, ideal to accompany the dance, they blend perfectly with the music without taking all the space, I recommend! (Translated review)
