Triangle is a percussion of the idiophone family. It consists of metal rod fold into a regular triangle. It is held softly in one hand and struck with a metal stick (thinner than the triangle). Its particularly bright, clear sound make it perceptible, even among other, far bigger percussions.

Triangle is used in as many different music styles as Classical Music, Afro-American music (Soul, Funk), and, In Brazil, particularly in Forró. Indeed, this musical style is much associated with triangle's distinctive sound and characteristic swaying rhythm.
