The Dholak is a traditional, oblong drum from North Inbdia, with two heads. It is originally used as an rhythmic accompaniment to the Qawali, a Sufi Muslim, musical ritual based on several poetic practices and on the classical forms of “râg” and “tâl”.
Our model is handmade in India and shows very careful, traditional making and finishing. A professional instrument, its body was carved from a single piece of wood, while its two ends are equipped with natural skins. The larger head is designed to produce low-pitched sounds and the smaller, higher-pitched strokes. Its turnbuckle system ensures a wide-ranged precise tuning of the drum.
