The ocarina is a very simple, most often ovoid-shaped, wind instrument.
It consist of a single resonance chamber with various holes (flute) and can be made up of various materials like bark, terra cotta or porcelain. A traditional instrument in some African regions, it is often decorated and is believed to be easy to play. Its sound can be described as a soft, warn-sounding flute.
In some European regions, its shape used to be that of a goose-head, hence its name: "ocarina" means "small goose" in Italian as Giuseppe Donati explained in the late 19th century.
This model was hand-made and ornamented in Perú. It is perfectly suitable for those who intend to discover this nice flute-like instrument.
