Originally Cajón was created in Latin America (more precisely Perú) by slaves from very common objects they had to handle during their workday, hence its name "cajón", which means large crate or box. It was introduced into Europe by Spanish musicians as a rhythmical accompaniment instrument to Flamenco music.
Although Schlagwerk Cajones can easily stand comparison with Cajones made by the best Sapnish or Peruvian traditional craftsmen, their prices remain quite affordable.
Some cajones have a snare that consists in a piano or guitar string placed against the playing surface to give slap sounds that buzzing quality.
The "2inOne" range by Schlagwerk has a special feature: its snare can be declutched with a simple operation to get the traditionally snare-free, original, Peruvian sound. So this "double" instrument can meet the expectations of any kind of percussionist.
This cajón has a very large sound range to offer, from very deepbass tones to surprinsingly clear higher tones. It can be remarkably loud too.
