The surdo is a drum with two drumheads, that is played in the brazilian samba style (Bateria). There are several sizes of surdos, from 14" to the huge 28", and each one has a particular place in the Bateria. The biggest ones will play the 2 & 4 beats (we call them "Primeira" or "Marcaçaõ"), the mediums play the 1 & 3 beats (they are "Segunda" or "Resposta"), and the smallest ones will play in between the beat, these are "Cortador".

This very light model, especially designed for children, is easy to play and can rest on the ground. Thanks to the special Nappa skin, its bass sound is very deep.
