This item is perfect for those who intend to start learning the playing techniques of bongos and to get familiar with the music it is mainly associated with: Son.

Members of the membraphone category, bongos consist of a 2-drum set. These 2 open-bottom, small drums are attached to each other and have different names : the larger one is called "hembra" ("female" in Spanish) and the smaller "macho" ("male").

Traditionally, the macho is held on the left handside, although nowadays, every player is free to handle the instrument either way.

Depending on the musical style, bongos can be played with hands, fingers or even sticks in more classical contexts, in which case, it is held on a stand. Lately, timbales players sometimes have had such a bongo stand next to their main instruments.
