Originally Cajón was created by slaves in Latin America (more precisely Perú) from very common objects they had to handle during their workday, hence its name "cajón", which means large crate or box. It was introduced into Europe by Spanish musicians as a rhythmical accompaniment instrument to Flamenco music.

For more than 20 years, German manufacturer Schlagwerk has been concentrating intensively on the further development of Cajon as a versatile instrument that can be used in any musical environment. Though these Cajones can easily stand comparison with traditional models made by the best Sapnish or Peruvian craftsmen, their prices remain affordable.

This professional model has clear open tones, prominent snare and pretty dry basses.
