Originally African, Agogó is a percussion as well as a melodic instrument which was developped in Latin America and is played mainly in Brazil. It consists of a 2- to 4-bell set that one hits with a wooden or metal stick, producing as many different notes.

The Gope model is a black metal Agogó, with mufflers placed inside the bell to cut out interfering vibration sounds and get softer vibration.

Very good value for the expense.

NB: Agogós are delicate instruments in that they are welded on a thin surface in order to keep the join from distorting its sound. Therefore, the bell should be hit sideways to restrict vibrations.
