This work is a well-designed tool to introduce oneself to the basic techniques and rhythms of the famous latin frame drum: pandeiro.

Using a simplified notation (based on conventional music theory) for warm-up exercises and the study of a rich repertoire, all the material used in the book is to be found in the accompanying DVD. Ideal for beginners, it is also useful to those who intend to improve their level through exercises on accents, sound effects and variations of strokes offered by this "pocket drum-set" as it is sometimes (and rightly) nicknamed.

Patterns studied in depth include: Samba / Choro, baião, Maracatu, Frevo and capoeira, marchinhas, Funk, Afoxé, odd-numbered bars (5 and 7 beats), compound bar rhythms 6 / 8.

A beautiful, "Made in Brazil" book that doesn't replace but usefully complements indispensible, intensive, individual practice.
