With this method, Cyril Piquet offers us a remarkable work, introducing us to some of the rhythms of the Malian grand master drum Sega Sidibe. Very accessible, pedagogically designed, the rhythms are first played by a group, then dissected by Sega. The reader is given every elements needed for comprehension : CD, DVD, scores, explanations, etc... We even find a very clear approch to rhythmic solfege for beginners." The DVD allows you to better understand the dynamics of the rhythm according to the order of your hands. A must have (Translated review)
Very well, thank you, best regards, Yvan Favre (Translated review)
so far very satisfied with the accessories: goat skins, dumdums bells, cd and dvd methods...See you soon!:) (Translated review)
I personally would have liked to have more information on the origin of the djembe in Mali and its relationship to social events instead of the chapter on rhythmic solfeggio (the writing of Mamady Keita's methods is for me a big shortcut and it is explained in 3 lines). However, it is still a great method, there are the keys to develop solos in the spirit of each rhythm presented. The solos on the DVD are presented very clearly and we have the right to a nice interview with Sega Sidibe, thank you Cyril! (Translated review)
- clear and authentic approach to the African oral tradition as the author invites us to learn the rhythm rather than the tempo. This choice is great - weak book binding, I already taped a page - average cd and dvd quality (Translated review)
