Pandeiro is considered by many the Brazilian national music instrument. A short-shell frame drum with jingles, it is related to the "adoufe" (a square tambourine native to Portugal) and to the oriental Riqq.
This quite sophisticated instrument allows the player a large number of different sounds. The pandeiro is played throughout Brazil in various types of music: Samba, choro, forró, “regional”… A good pandeiro player is supposed to be able to imitate all sounds of a drum band : hitting the outer part of the head with the thumb gives a low note while slaps on the center of it produces a dry, loud impact. As for the jingles, they add a crisp touch to the instrument’s overall range.
Hand-made in São Paulo, this Gope, 10 in, Choro "gold" model has 6 pairs of very special golden "platinelas" (jingles): each of them has 8 small rivets that make its sound still brighter.
A light instrument, it boasts impeccable making and finishing; this pandeiro is designed to accompany choro, but it also suits all types of Brazilian music traditionnally played with pandeiro (Samba, forró, coco...).
Made with carefully selected materials, this pandeiro shall meet the needs of professionals and amateurs alike.

Good pandeiro for the price. The sound of the skin is good and the cymbalettes are very sonorous. The wooden frame could be better but you can't have everything! (Translated review)
