Rebolo is a Brazilian percussion instrument, used to play samba. It is closely related to tantã.
It is a single-headed hand drum, typically used in "samba de mesa" (around-the-table samba) conditions, playing the part played by surdo in larger parade-type bands, that is: a strong bass pulse giving other instruments a firm rhythmical basis to play syncopated phrases along.
This model has a wooden shell which, along with its napa head, gives it a "rounder", more suble sound quality than aluminium rebolos.
This is a high-quality, brilliant instrument by Contemporãnea, ideal to play in any type of samba party!
