Originally Cajón was created in Latin America (more precisely Perú) by slaves from very common objects they had to handle during their workday, hence its name "cajón", which means large crate or box. It was introduced into Europe by Spanish musicians as a rhythmical accompaniment instrument to Flamenco music.
Although Schlagwerk Cajones can easily stand comparison with Cajones made by the best Sapnish or Peruvian traditional craftsmen, their prices remain quite affordable.
This snare-free Comparsa Cajon is a hybrid of small cajon and cajinto. Its sound range spreads over from thumping bass to dry slaps.
