A very serious educational work achieved by Iranian percussionist Madjid Khaladj, with the help of Frenchman Philippe Nasse. The DVD format provides an efficient, convenient tool to start the study of Tombak, a Persian goblet drum also known as Zarb. The DVD also gives some useful information about related instruments such as daf, dayre (frame drums) or zang-é saringôshti (finger jingles)

The learning process is organized around two pieces chosen in Master Hosein Tehrâni's repertoire. All booklet, live recordings and documentary are of high quality. The documentary part allows a good understanding of the instrument making, from the tree selection to the very precise, careful piece finishing.
