A suitable work for beginners, Paul Mindy's method allows a first introduction to the polyrhythms of Brazilian drum bands.
The approach is a very direct one and the author goes straight to his point, making large use of western musical theory to explore those traditional patterns, but also of colour photographs, descriptive texts (history, organology, cultural environnement). A CD with Mindy's original, study-oriented compositions comes with the book.

The author, supposedly one of Europe's best specialists in the area based the instruction process on 8 instruments : pandeiro, tamborim, ganza, agogo, surdo, triangle, caxixi and rebolo.

Each percussion is presented through an original score which is played on the accompanying CD.
The whole work can be used as a pedagogical aid by teachers or any person willing to lead a music session with a single learner or a group.
